Which behavior does desire leads us to? A two month LabMIS residency at the Museum of Image and Sound in São Paulo – the first mega polis to ban outdoor advertising and billboards in the city – was the starting point of a research concerning desire and the mediated reality of self.

Donna Verheijden (born 1987) works and lives in Amsterdam. Her work is undeniably iconic; her videos feature mashups of vintage Hollywood end-credits, moments of stunning cinematographic choreography, found footage and self-shot images of everyday life. Donna Verheijden aims for the intersection of banality and politics, of universal imagery and absolute specificity.

The Double is a film on the production of a portrait of a diseased friend in Papua, in the parallel worlds of the arts scene in the Netherlands and the bush in Indonesia.

Roy Villevoye is an Amsterdam based artist and filmmaker and often collaborates with filmmaker Jan Dietvorst. Roy Villevoye engages in projects that are rooted in the relations with other people and cultures. This has gradually developed into a testimony of uncomfortable encounters between asynchronous cultures. Hence the films of Villevoye and Dietvorst provide a look beyond the simplified scheme of progress, the primitive and the mythic, and the conventional assessment of values and manners while they reflect upon the interconnectedness and complexity of these interactions.
